Tomas was professionally born in Tucuman Rugby. He made his debut for the first team in 2015 and won the Torneo Regional del NOA (NOA Regional Tournament) that same year. In 2018, he was crowned champion again, this time of the Anual Tucumano (Tucuman Annual Tournament).

In the short 2020 season, Tomás made his first appearance with Jaguares, team that played the Super Rugby league.

Tomás played the 2020 season for Ceibos, team that played the Súper Liga Americana de Rugby (South American Rugby Super League).
2021- 2025
In 2021 after a great performance in the Super Rugby, Tomás signed a contract with Benetton Rugby. He has played 67 games, scored 18 tries and more than 360 points. While playing for Benetton, Albornoz was called up to the Argentine national team, Los Pumas, and made his debut in the 2022 Rugby Championship.
2022- Present
Tomás debuted for Los Pumas on August 13, 2022, during The Rugby Championship in the historic victory against Australia (The Wallabies) in San Juan. He scored his first major try for Los Pumas in the 2022 Rugby Championship against Australia in Round 2, showing his speed and evasion.
2025- Present
